About Us

Our Mission

Coastal Connections is a Del Norte Department of Health and Human Services youth and young adult resource center funded through the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA).  We serve youth and young adults between the ages of 14 and 25 and provide prevention and early intervention services in addition to referrals for needs that cannot be met directly on site.

Jennifer Velasco

“Don’t feel entitled to anything you didn’t sweat and struggle for.”  Marian Wright Edelman

“Life challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they’re supposed to help you discover who you are.” Bernice Johnson Reagon

I’m Jennifer but I also go by Jenny. I was born and raised in Crescent City, California. I’ve been a Certified Nursing Assistant since I was 18 and I recently became the Vocational Assistant at Coastal Connections. I am utterly grateful to be in a position which allows me to do meaningful work and I truly love and enjoy my job. I am married to an amazing man and we have a handsome son together. I enjoy reading, dancing, and watching scary movies on dark rainy days.

Baylee Reagen
Community Worker

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.”  Martin Luther King Jr.

My name is Baylee and I’m 20 years old.  I was born and raised in Crescent City, as were my parents and my grandparents before them, and because of that I have a lot of history in this county.  I’m the middle child in a family of five, and I work for Coastal Connections because I love the fulfillment which comes from working with the community.

Ashley Reyes
Community Worker

“Let your smile change the world, but don’t let the world change your smile.”

My name is Ashley. I was born in Los Angeles, but I was raised in Smith River, CA. I’m the youngest in my family with three older brothers. My family means the world to me and I’d do anything for them. I’m currently juggling two part-time jobs and am so happy to have the opportunity to work at Coastal Connections.
